Arvilla

This group has allowed me to find peace and healing within my pain. Being around people who love and support you is what I wish the world was truly like.
— Arvilla

Arvilla decided to use her background as an illustrator and the knowledge she learned during the P2A program to create a children’s book. “Growing Up An Advocate” is written and illustrated by Arvilla, designed to introduce children to social justice concepts in a way that’s age appropriate and easy to understand. While children are the target audience, adults can take away lessons and be empowered by the book as well.

In Her Own Words

“I created this book to showcase how smart kids are today. They pick up language, words and feelings more than we think. I wanted to give my kids context to these topics now so when they are older it will allow for open and honest communication with their peers or adults.

Words have power and education at a young age even with simplified poems for kids about Social Justice topics can help them learn have compassion, empathy and understanding for other people. The rhyming definitions, colorful illustrations and simple affirmations for kids can allow them navigate this confusing world with you as their guide.

This book isn’t just for kids but can be shared with adults too.

Never stop learning, growing and sharing your kindness with the world.”
